What is a "Cartie"?

Depending on where you live it may alternatively be called a boxcart, bogie, hurly, trolley…, but regardless of name it's what kids of bygone days constructed out of old pram wheels, wooden crates, nails and bits of string, and powered by nothing more than gravity.

A few of us in Stonehaven were thinking about this back in 2005 and thought we might like to recapture the fun of our childhood. Those initial thoughts slowly developed into plans for some sort of annual race or competition, and so was born ~

This was better than ever - lots of excitement without the broken bones! And SCARE's entry survived (2 out of 3 runs anyway!), and came away with 2 prizes as well as raising Ł450 for Heart Foundation
